Knowledge,Attitude and Practice Study on the Effects of Residents' Dietary Nutrition and Dietary Therapy of TCM on Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders
Objective:To investigate the knowledge, attitude and practice(KAP)of TCM dietary nutrition and dietary therapy among residents with functional gastrointestinal disorders(FGIDs),and to analyze the related factors. Methods:A web-based questionnaire survey was conducted using the Rome IV Diagnostic Questionnaire and the self-designed Questionnaire on Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)Food Nutrition and Food Therapy and Gastrointestinal Health Literacy, and binary logistic regression was applied to analyze the relationship between the presence of symptoms of FGIDs and the KAP of TCM food nourishment and food therapy. Results:A total of 344 valid questionnaires were collected through the Internet, and the proportion of the surveyed residents with symptoms of FGIDs was 70.35%(242/344),and the correct rate of knowledge of dietary contraindications for constipa-tion,chronic diarrhea, and dietary nourishment and food therapy for low gastric acid was the lowest(all<50%).Symptomatic people have higher recognition of traditional Chinese medicine dietary therapy than asymptomatic people(χ2=7.53,PP=0.023),and the duration of taking dietary therapy products is longer than that of asymptomatic people(χ2=8.327,P=0.016).Symptomatic people mostly used therapeutic products for tonifying, followed by the ones of digestion-promoting and regulating-Qi(χ2=8.782,P=0.032).Logistic regression analysis displayed that the cognition of food nourishment and food therapy for low gastric acid, dietary contraindications of peptic ulcer, the attitude of applying the knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine to guide the diet, and the preference for cold, raw, and irritating foods were the important influencing factors for having symptoms of FGIDs(P<0.05).Conclusion:People with FGIDs symptoms have poor cognitive level of TCM food nutrition and food therapy, their positive attitude and dietary health behaviors need to be improved. While strengthening the publicity and guidance of TCM dietary nutrition and food therapy has a positive effect on the prevention and treatment of FGIDs.
