Cultivation Performance of 9 New Mountain Apple Cultivars in The Shenmu Area
[Objective]With the expansion of apple planting scale in Shenmu mountain area,the industry is facing the chal-lenges of single cultivar,structural imbalance,low yield per unit area and low ratio of high-quality fruit.Therefore,the intro-duction experiment of new apple cultivars was carried out to provide reference for local introduction and planting of apples.[Methods]Taking Yanfu No.3,Chengji No.1,Longfu Short Branch,Xiangfu,Hongjiangjun,Liquan Short Branch,Ruixue,Longqihong,and Aomori Short-branch Fuji S introduced as the research objectsby Shandong Institute of Pomology and North-west A&F University,the growth of trees and new shoots,germination rate,branching ability and branch composition,fruit quality and yield of each cultivar were investigated and compared with the control cultivar Changfu No.2(CK).[Results]The node spacing of the nine new apple cultivars introduced was shorter than that of the control Changfu No.2,especially the 1.78 cm of Chengji No.1 was the largest,and its short branch characteristics were the most prominent.The proportion of branches of these new cultivars was significantly different from that of Changfu No.2,and the proportion of middle and short branches increased significantly.The proportion of short branches of Chengji No.1 was as high as 56.4%,which was 28.2 percentage points higher than that of Changfu No.2.In terms of yield,all introduced cultivars were superior to CK,and the yield of Liquan Short Branch,Chengji No.1,Ruixue,Longfu Short Branchand Longqihong increased significantly,showing good early fruit and high yield.[Conclusion]:Four late-maturing red cultivars,Longfu Short Branch,Chengji No.1,Xiangfu and Longqihong,and two late-maturing yellow cultivars,Aomori Short Branch Fuji S and Ruixue,were planted in the southern mountainous area of Shenmu.They not only performed well in fruit quality,but also had significant advantages in yield,and were suitable for promotion and planting.
