Development and application of carbon deposition state diagram for H-C-O system
With regard to carbon deposition problems of hydrogen-rich direct reduction gas preparation,direct reduc-tion process of shaft furnace,blast furnace gas recycling in the metallurgical field,and hydrogen production from natural gas in the chemical industry,it is necessary to establish a convenient,fast,easy to operate,and universally applicable method to determine whether carbon deposition has occurred in CH4-H2-CO-H2O-CO2 system,especially the more widely representative H-C-O system.Based on the"mass balance and chemical equilibrium diagram of H-C-O system"and the equilibrium principle of multi-phase and multi-reaction coexistence system,the critical carbon deposition point coordinates(nO/nC,nH/nc)corresponding to various operating conditions such as system tempera-ture,total pressure,and nH,/nCO ratio in the system were determined,and the corresponding critical carbon deposi-tion curves were obtained by connecting the critical carbon deposition points with the same parameters,a"carbon deposition state diagram for H-C-O system"was constructed.A new method was developed to accurately determine the production state and whether carbon deposition occurs in the system,and the H-C-O system carbon deposition state theory was established which provides a theoretical basis for selecting and controlling carbon evolution process parameters.In order to solve the problem of complicated calculation in the preparation of the"carbon deposition state diagram for H-C-O system",a specialized software for analyzing carbon deposition states in the H-C-O system was developed and the rationality and practicality of the"carbon deposition state diagram for H-C-O system"were veri-fied by using data from production practice and literature.Based on the above investigation,the results show that the new method proposed in the paper for determining whether carbon deposition has occurred in the system is widely applicable and highly inclusive and"carbon deposition state diagram for H-C-O system"can not only simply,quickly,and accurately determine whether the system will have carbon deposition under a given condition,but also provide a direction for efforts that can both prevent carbon deposition in the system and minimize the energy consump-tion and cost of the hydrogen production process from natural gas.Therefore,the"carbon deposition state diagram for H-C-O system"can provide effective guidance for actual production cost reduction,consumption reduction,sta-bility,and smooth operation.
