Study on phosphorus separation from converter slag by using steel pickling waste liquid
Converter slag and steel pickling waste liquid(SPWL)are two kinds of waste generated in steel plants. To recycle converter slag in steelmaking process and to achieve harmless disposal of SPWL,SPWL was used as a leaching agent to selectively leach phosphorus(P)from converter slag. The effects of pH value,Fe2+concentration in SPWL,and solid-liquid ratio on the dissolution behavior of each element from converter slag were investigated. The results show that the P leaching efficiency increased significantly with decreasing pH.At pH=1.5,the P leaching efficiency reached 95.1%.Increasing Fe2+concentration in SPWL had little influence on the P dissolution efficiency while increasing solid-liquid ratio led to a gradual decrease.Under each leaching condition, the Fe3+concentration in the leachate was very low, indicating that the dissolution of Fe from steelmaking slag was hard. The residue was composed of 43.38 wt.%Fe2O3,39.49 wt.%CaO,and 5.43 wt.%MgO,and only contained 0.27 wt.%P2O5,which could be used as a flux in steelmaking process.
