A Survey of Vegetation Status in near Shuangta Reservoir Area of An'xi Extra-arid Desert Nature Reserve
In this research, 35 quadrats were located in the surrounding areas of Shuangta-reservoir of Anxi extra-arid desert national nature reserve to investigate plant composition, vegetation type, coverage and biomass. The results showed that, the study area are species -rich and mainly dominated by shrubs. Phragmites australis , Alhagi maurorum , Poacynum hendersonii and Sympegma regelii are the dominant species in the communities. Desert plants are the main vegetation type in which Alhagi maurorum is the main formation. The vegetation coverage is highest in Phragmites australis community, and lowest in Sympegma regelii community. However, the mean vegetation coverage of the study area belongs to the higher level across the whole reserve. Due to the intensified conservation efforts and the increased water supply from the upstream, the plant community was in a steady state.
