The Impact of Farmland Transfer on Diversified Livelihood Strategies of Farmers:An Empirical Analysis Based on the National Household Survey
According to the principle of DFID's sustainable livelihood analysis framework, this paper empirically examines the impact of land transfer on household livelihood strategy selection and the degree of non-farm livelihood using national large-sample household micro-survey data, employing Logit/OLS regression and PSM methods. The research results show that farmland transfer will provide farmers with opportunities to diversify their livelihoods.Farmland transferred-out participation will promote farmers to engage in diversified livelihood strategies by enhancing the level of non-agricultural livelihoods.Farmland transferred-in participation can promote farmers to engage in agricultural livelihood strategies, creating conditions for farmers to achieve scale production. The heterogeneity of farmers'livelihoods is a key factor affecting the diversification of farmers'livelihood strategies.Based on the above results, this paper argues that the development of a well-functioning farmland transfer market remains the primary objective of the current rural land policy.Meanwhile, upgrading human, physical and financial capital can increase diversification of farmers'livelihoods.
