Study on the Evolution of Innovation Network and Urban Influencing Factors of City Clusters in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River
Under the background of regional integration, city clusters had become an important spatial carrier and growth pole for promoting regional innovation and coordinated development, with innovation activities shifting from single collaboration to networked innovation. The study utilizes cooperation data of invention patents of 28 cities in urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River to construct an innovation network.Social network analysis and QAP regression analysis were also applied to analyze the evolution process and driving mechanism of the innovation network of the city cluster in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River from 2008 to 2019.The study shows that the scale of the innovation network continues to expand, with rapid growth in innovation connections. The structure of the innovation network develops from a"double-core"structure centered on Wuhan and Changsha to a"triple core"structure centered on Wuhan,Changsha, and Nanchang. What's more,it is revealed in the QAP regression analysis that institutional proximity, organizational proximity and geographic proximity has a significant driving effect on the innovation network, while industrial proximity has an inhibitory effect on innovation networks.
