Dynamic analysis of urban expansion in Chengdu metropolitan area based on night light remote sensing
Chengdu metropolitan area is an important polar core leading and driving the development of the twin cities of Chengdu and Chongqing. The research uses NPP-VIIRS night light data to extract the spatial distribution of built-up areas in Chengdu metropolitan area from 2012 to 2021,and uses night light statistical analysis, standard deviation ellipse method, center of gravity change, landscape pattern index and other methods to quantitatively analyze the built-up area expansion and spatial pattern evolution of Chengdu metropolitan area in the past 10 years,so as to reveal its evolution characteristics. It provides reference for the follow-up development planning of Chengdu metropolitan area. The results show that from 2012 to 2021,the regional characteristics of light anomaly value in Chengdu metropolitan area are obvious, showing a core edge structure with high middle and low periphery. The dynamic change of urban expansion within the metropolitan area is relatively obvious, with the area of built-up areas increasing by 78.8%.The urban expansion is newly added on the original basis and filled with continuous development. The total area of patches in the metropolitan area has been increasing, the number of patches has increased by 47.4%,and new built-up areas have been emerging.Chengdu has played an obvious role in driving the surrounding cities, and the inner part of the metropolitan area is in a coordinated development trend.
