Cardiospermum halicacabum L.is a traditional medicinal herb in China known for its therapeutic properties such as dispelling stasis,reducing swelling,detoxification,and cooling blood.lt is conventionally used to treat injuries from falls and blows,venomous snake bites,and herpes zoster.Flavonoids are among its main pharmacodynamical components.This article summarizes the flavonoid components found in Cardiospermum halicacabum,analyzes the factors affecting the extraction of these chemical compounds,and reviews recent studies on the active properties of the flavonoids.It points out the future research directions and application prospects for these compounds.
