OBJECTIVE To evaluate the safety of Burns and Scalds Ointment No.1 and No.2 using animal skin application experiments..METHODS Guinea pigs and rabbits were used to test for acute skin toxicity,skin irritation and skin allergy.RESULTS After administration of Bums and Scalds Ointment No.1 and No.2 at the dose was below 10mL·kg-1 and 20 g·kg-1,the guinea pigs did not produce acute toxicity.After multiple administrations of Bums and Scalds Ointment No.1 and No.2 did not cause skin irritation in rabbits.Additionally,neither ointment induced allergic reactions in guinea pigs.CONCLUSION Bums and Scalds Ointment No.1 and No.2 have good skin safety when used externally.
