The optimization of extracting total organic acids from Fructus mume and antioxidant evaluation
Objective To optimize the extraction conditions of total organic acids from Fructus mume and evaluate the antioxidant activity. Methods Based on the single-factor tests, the effects of liquid-solid ratio, soaking time and extraction time on the extraction yield of total organic acids from Fructus mume were studied by response surface methodology.Meanwhile, the antioxidant activity of total organic acids was assessed by scavenging assays of DPPH free radicals. Results The optimal extraction conditions were as follows:extracting with water for twice and 1.5 hours each time,liquid-solid ratio of 14∶1 (mL ∶g) and soaking for 70 min.Under the optimal conditions, the maximum extraction rate of total organic acids was 35.21%.The IC50 of the total organic acids against DPPH free radicals were 1.788 mg/mL.Conclusion The optimum extraction process was simple and feasible, and it could be used to extract total organic acids from Fructus mume. The total organic acids from Fructus mume showed strong antioxidant capacity.
