Study on the enhancing immune function and anti-fatigue effect of polysaccharides from Pterocarya stenoptera leaves
Objective To investigate the effect of polysaccharide from Pterocarya stenoptera leaves on immune function and anti-fatigue in mice. Methods Mice were randomly divided into blank group, model group, and high, medium and low doses of Pterocarya stenoptera leaf polysaccharide(100,50 and 25 mg·kg-1)groups.The thymus index, spleen index, clearance index, phagocytosis index and ear swelling were measured in the immunocompromised mouse model induced by cyclophosphamide. The time and content of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and malondialdehyde(MDA)in serum of mice were determined by weight-bearing swimming test and hypoxia tolerance test. Results High and medium doses of Pterocarya stenoptera leaf polysaccharide significantly increased thymus index, spleen index, clearance index, phagocytosis index, ear swelling,weight-bearing swimming time, and hypoxia tolerance time of mice(P<0.05 or P<0.01).High doses of Pterocarya stenoptera leaf polysaccharide increased serum SOD content and reduced MDA content(P<0.05).Conclusion The polysaccharide from Pterocarya stenoptera leaves has good effects on strengthening immunity and anti-fatigue in a dosage-dependent manner.
