Protection effect of alcoholic liver injury by Jiejiu Hugan Capsules in rats
Objective To evaluate the preventive and therapeutic effects of Jiejiu Hugan Capsules on alcoholic liver injury and their ability to enhance alcohol metabolism. Methods After administering different concentrations of test samples by gavage to each experimental group, alcoholic liver injury and acute alcoholism models were established. The levels of serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),glutamyl aminotransferase(GGT),ethanol, and acetaldehyde were measured. The levels of triglycerides(TG)and superoxide dismutase(SOD)in the liver were measured.HE staining was used to observe the pathological changes in liver and gastric tissues. Results Compared with the model group, the medium dose group of Jiejiu Hugan Capsules significantly reduced the serum ALT content(P<0.05),while the medium and high dose groups significantly reduced the AST and GGT content(P<0.01).The low, medium and high dose groups all significantly reduced the TG content in liver tissue(P<0.01),and the medium dose group significantly increased the SOD level(P<0.01).The pathological sections of the liver tissue showed that the liver cells in the model group of rats were uneven in size, with disordered arrangement of liver cords and numerous small vesicular fat vacuoles, accompanied by inflammatory infiltration and cell necrosis. The different dosage groups improved the liver tissue lesions of rats to varying degrees.Compared with the model group, the high dose group of Jiejiu Hugan Capsules showed a significant decrease in ethanol and acetaldehyde content within 8 hours after getting drunk(P<0.01).The pathological changes in liver and stomach tissues were alleviated in both the low and high dose groups of Jiejiu Hugan Capsules. Conclusion Jiejiu Hugan Capsules can inhibit oxidative stress response, reduce lipid peroxidation, accelerate alcohol metabolism, and have a certain protective effect on liver tissue and gastric mucosa.
