Clinical effects of 3D printed levothyroxine sodium tablets in the treatment of congenital hypothyroidism
Objective To investigate the effect of 3D printed personalized precise dose of levothyroxine sodium tablets(L-T4)in the treatment of congenital hypothyroidism(CH).Methods A total of 60 children with CH diagnosed in the neonatal screening Center of our hospital from January 2023 to January 2024 were selected as the study objects and were divided into a routine dose group and 3D printing group by random number table method, with 30 cases in each group. The conventional group was fed with the commercially available L-T4 tablets, and the 3D printing group was fed with the individualized 3D printed L-T4.The efficacy, incidence of adverse reactions and compliance of the two groups were compared. Results After 2 weeks of medication, the improvement degree of TSH and FT4 levels in the 3D printing group was better than that in the conventional group(P<0.05).After 3 months of medication, the improvement of TSH in the 3D printing group was better than that in the conventional group(P<0.05).After 6 months of medication, there was no significant difference in TSH,FT3 and FT4 levels between the two groups(P>0.05).During the period of 6 months, the height growth rate of the 3D printing group was better than that of the conventional group(P<0.05),and the weight growth rate was not significantly different(P>0.05).The medication compliance of the 3D printing group was significantly better than that of the conventional group(P<0.05).There was no statistical significance in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups. Conclusion The individualization and dosing of L-T4 using 3D printing technology has significant effect on children with congenital CH,which can improve thyroid function and promote physical development of children with CH,with high safety and better medication compliance than ordinary L-T4.
