The Relationship Between Preschool Teachers'Occupational Identity and Job Engagement:The Chain Mediating Role of Emotional Intelligence and Career Commitment
A survey was conducted on 393 preschool teachers from Anhui Province using occupational identity scale,job engagement scale,emotional intelligence scale and career commitment scale.(1)Correlation analysis results indicate that occupational identity was significantly positively correlated with emotional intelligence,career commitment,and job engagement(r=0.529,0.585,0.653,p<0.001),while emotional intelligence was sig-nificantly positively correlated with career commitment and job engagement(r=0.477,0.672,p<0.001).Fur-thermore,career commitment exhibited a significant positive correlation with job engagement(r=0.632,p<0.001).(2)The results of the mediation analysis show that emotional intelligence and career commitment media-ted the relationship between occupational identity and job engagement(95%CI:0.135~0.246,0.076~0.208),the effect estimates were 0.188 and 0.135 respectively.The results indicate that the chain mediating effect of emo-tional intelligence and career commitment between occupational identity and job engagement was significant(95%CI:0.013~0.059,with an effect estimate of 0.032.This suggests that chain mediating model could explain the mediating effect of emotional intelligence and career commitment between occupational identity and preschool teach-er'job engagement.
