A Pragmatic Study of Interactional Metadiscourse in Theses Abstracts from the Perspective of Communicative Action Theory
Interactional metadiscourse,a subset of metadiscourse,conveys the author's attitude towards both the reader and the textual information.This study combines quantitative and qualitative analysis through a self-constructed corpus of masters thesis abstracts to examine the distribution frequency and pragmatic functions of inter-actional metadiscourse.Grounded in Communicative Action Theory,it reveals the essential role of interactional metadiscourse in academic abstracts,finding that the distribution frequency of its subcategories varies and effective-ly constructs the'author-reader'interactive relationship.This research broadens the scope of interactional metadis-course studies,providing theoretical foundations and practical suggestions for enhancing the quality and circulation of academic paper abstracts.This contributes to establishing the author's academic credibility and promotes scholarly development in the digital humanities era.
