Guizhou is one of the important provinces and regions in China where rock paintings are distributed,with a total of more than forty petroglyph discovered in more than twenty cities and counties(districts).These rock paintings are rich in petroglyphs,offering profound historical and cultural values.Since the 1980s,scholars have continuously conducted research and investigations on rock paintings,yielding substantial scientific achievements.After combing through the literature,we have summarized and clarified the development of rock paintings in Guizhou,and on the basis of outlining the excellent results achieved in the past forty years,we have pointed out the current deficiencies and the prospects for future research,with a view to attracting more scholars to pay attention to and conduct in-depth research on the subject.
