The Impact of School Climate on Anxiety Among Left-Behind Children in Grades 3~6 and Its Chain Mediation Effects
In order to investigate the influence mechanism of school climate on the anxiety of left-behind chil-dren in Grades 3 to 6 and the role of psychological suzhi and self-esteem,3451 left-behind children in Grades 3 to 6 in Anhui Province were collectively measured by the Delaware School Climate Survey-Student(DSCS-S),Pri-mary School Psychological Suzhi Questionnaire,the Self-Esteem Scale(SES)and the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7-item Scale(GAD-7).The results showed that:(1)school climate,psychological suzhi and self-esteem were significantly positively correlated(r=0.39~0.54,p<0.001),while school climate,psychological suzhi and self-esteem were negatively correlated with anxiety(r=-0.17~-0.16,p<0.001).(2)School climate can ef-fectively predict psychological suzhi(β=0.96,p<0.001),self-esteem(β=0.06,p<0.001)and anxiety(β=-0.04,p<0.001)of left-behind children in Grades 3 to 6.(3)The psychological suzhi and self-esteem of left-behind children in Grades 3 to 6 play multiple mediating roles in the influence of school climate on anxiety,with the effect size accounting for 12.5%of the total effect.Therefore,creating a good school climate and improving the psychological suzhi and self-esteem of left-behind children in grades 3 to 6 are effective ways to reduce the anxiety of left-behind children in Grades 3 to 6.
