On the Influence of Hong Liangji's Poetry Theory on Fu Shoutong
Hong Liangji,a scholar and literary figure,served as the academic official of Guizhou during the Qing Dynasty.The literati Fu Huang and his son Fu Shoutong from Guizhou were students under Hong Liangji.Fu Shoutong not only inherited his scholarship but also carried on the poetic tradition of Mr.Beijiang in his poetry cre-ation.In his"Beijiang Shihua"(Poetic Remarks of Beijiang),Hong Liangji established a poetics based on five principles:nature,emotion,spirit,interest,and style.Fu Shoutong adhered to Hong Liangji's main idea of"poet-ry embodying nature and sentiment",emphasizing the moral character and sincere emotions contained in his poet-ry.In his collection"Danqin Shishi",comprising over three hundred poems,he uses his poetic prowess to express concerns about national affairs and the salvation of the people.He skillfully draws inspiration from nature,creating innovative themes with genuine artistic spirit,unconstrained by poetic forms,and naturally imbued with spiritual essence.His poetry vividly reflects his deep understanding and practical application of the Beijiang poetic style.
