As educators of subject teachers,the competency level of mentor teachers influences pre-service teachers'understanding of their professional roles,enhances their teaching quality,and fosters their professional i-dentity and development.Therefore,based on the competency perspective,in-depth interviews were conducted with seven outstanding kindergarten teachers with guidance experience of three years or more,and grounded theory was used to construct the competency model of kindergarten teacher intern mentorship.The findings reveal that the model adopts an"onion structure",with layers consisting of"personal traits","professional attitudes",and"pro-fessional knowledge and skills".Specifically,"professional attitudes"encompass role recognition and self-develop-ment,while"professional skills"include mentoring ability,reflective ability,communication skills,and educa-tional adaptability.In conclusion,this model takes into account the unique context of kindergarten internships,fo-cusing on the core competencies of excellent mentor teachers.It provides valuable insights for strengthening the teacher education workforce,enhancing the quality of pre-service teachers'practical experiences,and fostering the growth of both mentors and mentees.
