During the use of asphalt, the emission of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)poses significant hazards to the environment and human health. In order to investigate the characteristics of VOCs emissions from asphalt and methods for their suppression, this study utilized oil tea shell biochar to modify asphalt, and employed gas chromatogra-phy-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)to monitor and analyze the VOCs emissions before and after treatment. The results demonstrate that the addition of oil tea shell biochar significantly reduces the emissions of various VOCs from asphalt.Further analysis reveals that the amount of biochar added affects the suppression of VOCs emissions, and considering both economic and asphalt performance factors, the appropriate biochar dosage is determined to be 6%.
