Silane Coupling Agent Modified Recycled Aggregate and Its Application in Asphalt Concrete
This study explores the feasibility of using silane coupling agent to strengthen the recycled coarse aggre-gate,with a focus on analyzing the water absorption, apparent relative density, crushing value,Los Angeles abrasion loss of recycled coarse aggregate, and high-temperature performance of its asphalt concrete before and after modification with silane coupling agent. Results show that recycled aggregate modified with silane coupling agent has a water ab-sorption,apparent relative density, crushing value, and Los Angeles abrasion loss of 0.7%,2.612%,24.1%,and 25.5%,respectively,which meet the requirements of the Technical Specification for Construction of Highway Asphalt Pavement(JTG F40-2004)for the technical properties of coarse aggregate. For asphalt concrete prepared with modi-fied recycled coarse aggregate, when the tire pressure is increased from 0.7 MPa to 0.9 MPa,the rutting depth increa-ses by 90.4%and the dynamic stability decreases by 48.8%.Therefore,silane coupling agent modified recycled coarse aggregate is not suitable for use in heavy traffic environments.
