In order to explore the fundamental causes of rutting on asphalt pavement of Tianxi Expressway,core samples were taken from the affected areas,and experimental analysis was conducted on rutting deformation distribu-tion,compaction status,oil stone ratio,gradation,infrared spectroscopy,and other aspects.Through experiments,it was found that rutting diseases are mainly concentrated in the middle and upper layers,and the main reasons for rutting are due to multiple factors such as a high oil stone ratio,fine gradation,and poor quality of asphalt materials.Therefore,during the construction process,the quality of asphalt should be strictly controlled.The oil stone ratio and aggregate grading should be reasonably selected to fundamentally avoid the formation of rutting.
