Recycled refractories for torpedo ladles can be widely used as ASC castables and ASC ramming materials for hot metal runners,ASC unburned bricks for hot metal ladle walls and bottoms, and castables for the runner covers. However, large quantities of recycled aggregates for torpedo ladles ranging from 0.1 to 1 mm are not effectively utilized due to particle size. This article explores the effective utilization of recycled torpedo ladle aggregates of 0.1~1 mm by adding different proportions into the ladle castables as a substitute for SiC,thus reducing the cost of castables. The experimental results show that when 9%of recycled torpedo ladle aggregate of 0.1~1 mm is added, the manufactured hot metal ladle castables can meet the various performance indicators. In industrial experiments,it features low strength and less slag adhesion, and makes the ladle easy to be debricked and repaired, reducing the labor intensity of workers. In 2022,a test was carried out on a 15-ton ladle at a plant in Shanxi province, and its service life was over 15%longer than the original ladle castables, while the cost per ton of castables was reduced by about 11%.
