In order to explore the fully-quantitative application of limestone fluxing ore accumulated and stacked during mining, crushing, and transportation at metallurgical mines in steelmaking,an experiment was carried out in a steel plant by directly adding 5~20 mm limestone fluxing ore into a 50 t converter and 0~10 mm limestone fluxing ore into a 60 t LF for slag forming. The results indicate a good metallurgical effect,as the contradiction between high-grade lump ore and of small-sized fine ore is weakened, which improves the resource utilization efficiency. The use of 5~20 mm limestone fluxing ore in the converter can partially replace activated lime and better meet the heat balance of the converter and reduce production costs under low iron consumption control mode, compared to using 10~65 mm high-quality limestone lumps. When not more than 2 kg(0~10 mm)limestone fluxing ore is added per ton of steel,it can replace activated lime with equivalent calcium oxide, which can meet the demand for desulfurization and slag forming in the LF.
