Al2O3-SiC-C based castables for main hot metal runners are produced from fused brown corundum(8~5 mm,5~3 mm,3~1 mm),fused dense corundum(1~0 mm,≤0.088 mm),90 defective spinel(200 mesh,2 µm),78 spinel(1~0 mm,200 mesh,500 mesh),98 silicon carbide(1~0 mm,≤0.088 mm),spherical asphalt, calcium aluminate cement, and activated micro alumina as the main raw materials. The impact of the two types of spinels on the performance of Al2O3-SiC-C castable is studied in terms of particle size and addition amount. The experimental result shows that:1)as the particle size of spinel decreases, the viscosity of the castable decreases, the exhaust performance increases, and the flowability and bulk density show an increasing trend;2)After being treated at different temperatures, the compressive strength, flexural strength, and erosion resistance of samples show a trend from initial increasing to decreasing;3)With the increase of magnesium oxide content in spinel, the compressive strength and corrosion resistance of samples increase.
