Key Vertical Rotation Construction Techniques for Pylons of Jinwu Bridge
The main bridge of Jinwu Bridge is a single pylon cable-stayed bridge that are arranged in three spans of 85,143,and 37 m.Fixed with the deck and the pier, the pylon consists of eleven steel segments(T1-T11)and a 3 m-long steel-concrete joint section(T0)and rises 82.404 m above the deck. The steel pylon was constructed by a vertical rotation method, with a rotated structure weighing 2 530 t and turned 90°.The prefabricated steel girder segments were assembled on the bridge deck and then hoisted and vertically rotated into position.Chief and assistant struts were added to drag the chief struts to stay at a specified angle, and the chief struts in turn were used to lever the steel pylon. The chief and assistant struts are all gantry spatial truss structures. The spherical hinge installed between the pylon segments T0 and T1 consists of upper and lower hinge seats and pins.During construction, the steel pylon segments as well as chief and assistant struts were assembled on side at angles of 0°,13°,and 30°.The chief struts were dragged to incline 60° by the assistant struts and traction ropes, and then the assistant struts were removed for system transformation. The steel pylon was dragged from horizontal position to vertical position by the chief struts and pylon traction ropes.
