The steel box girders of a sea-crossing bridge were installed in large segments in a span-by-span manner. The large segments were assembled from smaller segments, and precambers should be considered for the steel box girders during manufacturing process. To ensure that the manufacturing errors of the large steel box girder segments could reach the required level, the smaller steel box girder segments were pre-assembled before delivered out of the manufacturing beds, the dimensions were checked and alignment control points were marked. The large steel box girder segments were positioned via the reserved alignment control points, and the dimensions and alignments after welding were checked.During the installation,an alignment adjusting flowchart was worked out,the large steel box segments were installed and adjusted to the designated locations, and the amount of circumferential cutting were determined.Jacks on pier tops were applied to lower and allow the large steel box girder segments to rigidly rotate to adjust the angles at girder ends, achieving the smooth connection of the segments. The elevation and plan alignment errors of the completed superstructure were within 10 mm,indicating sound alignment control effect.
