Overall Design of Dabeihuan Huanghe River Bridge in Jinan
Carrying a part of the north section of the Second Ring Road connecting the bypass expressway in Jinan, the Dabeihuan Huanghe River Bridge consists of a main bridge and two approaches, with a total length reaching 5 380 m.The main bridge is a suspension bridge featuring the single tower that creates two spans of 350 m and two spans of 50 m.The tower is a mono-column concrete structure, supporting the spatially-arranged main cables. The superstructure is composed of two edge steel box girders, the connection crossbeams and the overlaid steel-UHPC composite deck panels.X-shaped crossbeams are installed at the tower to accommodate the two rows of bearings, and a pair of auxiliary stay cables are added at the midspan of the 350 m-long spans,to improve the overall stiffness of the main bridge. The strands of main cables are threaded through splay saddles, keeping constant vertical angles, and get anchored after being turned 14.08° horizontally along bridge width. The superstructure was constructed ahead of the main cables. The steel girders of the superstructure were assembled on scaffolds and incrementally launched into position. The tower was constructed using climbing formwork. The main cables and hanger cables were installed after the tower and superstructure construction. The superstructure in the approach in the shoal area consists of precast segmental PC T-girders.The superstructure in the approach crossing the embankment and national road G220 are composed of cast-in-place PC box girders with variable cross-section,while the portion outside the embankment consists of pretensioned PC I-girders.
