Equality and Mutual Learning among Civilizations:From the Perspective of History of International Relations
The concept of equality has long been absent from the field of international relations, but there has been various efforts and pursuits to strive for equality. In response to the"clash of civilizations"theory, this paper advocates for an emphasis on dialogue, exchange and mutual learning among civilizations. From the perspective of the history of international relations, this paper examines the phenomena of"equality"and"civilization",discusses the concept of equality, the definition of civilization and the dialogue among civilizations in international communication, emphasizes that mutual learning among civilizations is an important foundation for building a community with a shared future for mankind, and points out three undesirable tendencies of cultural exchanges. This paper tries to redefine civilization from three aspects:the contradiction between human beings and nature, the contradiction between people, and the contradiction within oneself.
