From"Politics of Growth"to"Politics of Order":Paradigm Shift and Future Prospects of Urban Politics in the United States and Europe
With the deepening global inequality and urban crises,Western urban politics has once again emerged.Under Western democratic systems, the social and political fragmentation caused by the lack of systematic and effective regulation in the free-market economy has driven the paradigm shift in Western urban politics from"politics of growth"to"politics of order".Western urban politics needs to further incorporate multi-level analyses of global, national, and technological dimensions to enhance its theoretical explanatory capacity, utilize mixed methods to overcome methodological limitations, strengthen comparative studies on urban issues in developing countries to broaden the transnational applicability of theories. The implication for China is to establish a unified theoretical paradigm with consensus,to promote cross-disciplinary and methodological integration of new disciplines and methods, and to continuously advance a theory of urban politics with a global vision and Chinese characteristics, providing China's contribution to the development of global urban politics.
