The process of urban development in developing countries today shows that urbanization, structural transformation, and economic growth do not necessarily occur at the same time.A review of recent international scholarship on urbanization reveals that urbanization is intrinsically linked to industrial restructuring, labor market development and economic growth.Urbanization is accompanied by the aggregation and mobility of population and labor, and the development of the labor market is crucial for achieving the agglomeration effects and optimizing the allocation of resources, thereby enhancing production efficiency. From the point of view of agglomeration effect, urbanization realizes the agglomeration of both supply and demand of labor, enhances the diversification and specialization of labor skills, and improves the quality and efficiency of supply-demand matching. From the perspective of resource allocation, there are still barriers to labor mobility across space, between and within industries in the current urbanization process.Based on this, three targeted recommendations are summarized to resolve the mobility barriers, give full play to the agglomeration effect and achieve economic growth:from the perspective of enhancing spatial accessibility, infrastructure should be strengthened to reduce the cost of relocation and commuting, creating a well-connected and livable urban environment;from the perspective of improving the matching rate of individuals,it is necessary to enhance quality and skills training, focus on the key groups, and provide targeted support measures;from the perspective of enhancing the market resilience, efforts should be intensified to provide unemployment protection, and labor market policies should be improved in the light of macroeconomic development needs.
