Study on Energy Trade Security of China in the Context of Global Geopolitical Dynamics
China heavily relies on external sources for various types of energy. In the current severe and complex political, trade, and energy landscape, energy security—especially the security of energy trade—faces multiple risks and challenges.Geopolitical conflicts not only induce significant short-term risk premiums on energy commodities, increasing energy import costs, but also heighten the risk of disruptions in energy transportation.Additionally, trade protectionism policies and corresponding policies restrict countries'choices of energy trading partners and supply channels, increasing uncertainty in energy trade.Simultaneously, geopolitical conflicts and trade frictions may jeopardize or delay energy investments and technological cooperation essential for global energy transition and sustainable development. This paper conducts a systematic assessment and analysis of the current situation and future trends of China's energy trade security in the context of the current global geopolitical dynamics and the progress of China's energy transformation. It identifies and analyzes the main threats and risk points facing China's energy trade security and proposes relevant strategies and recommendations to address critical issues in China's energy trade security.
