A Critique of Byung-Chul Han's Psychological Analysis of Digital Capitalism
Digitalization has not only reshaped social production and interaction but also profoundly changed the way human exist.Digital capitalism and the associated neoliberalism employ the potentials afforded by these technologies to facilitate capital accumulation. This,in turn, has engendered widespread alienation of individual existence, emotional wellbeing, and social culture.Byung-Chul Han uses concepts like"quantified self","achievement-subject","burnout society",and"palliative society"to conduct a multi-dimensional analysis of individuals and society. However, his"critique of earth"is primarily focused on individuals'psychological and spiritual dimensions. While Han's research involves societal and cultural dimensions,it still needs to be grounded in the material basis of social life and requires a shift from a critique of psycho-politics to a critique of the political economy of digital capitalism.
