Application of nasal septum suture in the endoscopic surgery of nasal septum deviation
Objective To observe the aplication of nasal septum suture in the endoscopic surgery of nasal septum deviation. Methods From March 2021 to December 2022,60 patients with nasal septum deviation who treated in our hospital were randomly divided into control group(n=30)and observation group(n=30).The control group received nasal packing treatment, while the observation group received nasal septum suture treatment. The difference were compared in Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)scores, sinus CT scores, nasal endoscopy scores, and subjective visual analog pain scale(VAS)scores between the two groups, before and 48 hours after surgery;and compared in hospitalization expenses, length of stay, and amount of bleeding and complications during 3-month follow-up after surgery.between the two groups. Results For 48 hours after surgery, the PSQI scores in the observation group were significantly lower than that in the control group(5.24±0.71 vs.10.21±2.30);The subjective VAS scores of the observation group at 48 hours after surgery were significantly lower than that in the control group[nasal congestion(3.25±0.51 vs.5.28±0.80),headache(2.61±0.84 vs.4.57±1.05),nasal pain(2.35±0.57 vs.6.14± 0.97),tinnitus/ear tightness(0.48±0.08 vs.2.56±0.95),difficulty sleeping(0.84±0.12 vs.4.02±1.23),tearing(0.58±0.05 vs.2.21±0.54),and swallowing difficulties(0.67±0.04 vs.3.336±0.54)],and the differences were all statistically significant.Postoperative bleeding, hospitalization time and hospitalization cost in the observation group were lower than that in the control group. After 3 months of postoperative follow-up,the total incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was 6.67%(2/30),while in the control group it was 20.00%(6/30),with a statistically significant difference(χ2=0.889,P<0.05).Conclusions Nasal septum suture is more effective than nasal packing in relieving patients'discomfort, improving clinical symptoms, reducing the risk of complications, shortening hospital stay, and decreasing patients'medical burden, improving patients'clinical efficacy and quality of life.
