Correlation study of allergic rhinitis and A/N ratio in acoustic immitance analysis of adenoid hypertrophy in children
Objective To investigate the correlation of tympanic immittance map with A/N ratio and allergic rhinitis in children with adenoid hypertrophy and its impact factors. Methods The clinical data of 140 children with adenoid hypertrophy treated in Department of Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery,Suqian First People's Hospital from January to June 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The optimal cut-off point of adenoid-nasopharyngeal ratio(A/N ratio)was determined by establishing receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC curve). The relationship between age,sex,A/N ratio,BMI,LDL,HDL levels and the presence of allergic rhinitis and adenoid hypertrophy was evaluated by Chi-square test,Univariate and Multivariate analysis. Results The critical value of A/N was calculated as 0.84 according to ROC curve. The A/N ratio,HDL level and allergic rhinitis were significantly correlated with acoustic transduction in children with adenoid hypertrophy(P<0.05).There were no significant correlation between age, sex,BMI and LDL level and acoustic transduction in children with adenoid hypertrophy(P>0.05).The results of multivariate analysis showed that the A/N ratio and the presence of allergic rhinitis were significantly correlated with acoustic transduction in children with adenoid hypertrophy(P<0.05).Conclusions The A/N ratio and allergic rhinitis are the important basis for the diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy with secretory otitis media.
