Investigation of current situation of bone health literacy in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women in Shanghai
Objective To investigate current situation and influencing factors of bone health literacy in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women,so as to provide references for formulating interventions of bone health literacy.Methods A bone health literacy questionnaire for menopausal women and elderly women was designed based on integrated framework definition of health literacy proposed by Regional Office for Europe of World Health Organization.Cross-sectional study was carried out to investigate current situation and influencing factors of bone health literacy in women aged 45 to 65 years in communities from eight urban and suburban districts of Shanghai city,and 2 771 valid questionnaires were collected.Univariate analysis of variance(ANOVA)and binary Logistic regression analysis were used for statistical analysis.Results(1)The total score of all women investigated in bone health literacy was(43.52±9.93),and the having rate of health literacy was 12.70%.The scores in three dimensions of health literacy as medical service,disease prevention and health promotion were 15.84±4.60,12.63±3.00 and 15.05±4.42 respectively,with the correct rates of 41.86%,41.14%and 2.09%.(2)Postmenopausal women had lower score in health literacy and compliance rate of health literacy than perimenopausal women.(3)The multivariate unconditional Logistic regression analysis showed that education level and per capita monthly household income were influencing factors of bone health literacy(P<0.05).Conclusion The having rate of bone health literacy in perimenopausal and postmenopausal women in Shanghai is low.So we should focus on those older,ill-educated and low income women population to spread the related knowledge about bong health among them and make full use of the Internet and doctor-patient communication channels to improve health literacy of the patients.
