MRI-based study of the correlation between serum GH,8-OHdG,HMGB1 and clinical classification of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy
Objective To investigate the correlation between serum growth hormone(GH),8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine(8-OHdG),and high mobility group protein(HMG)B1 and clinical grades of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).Methods 120 children with HIE who were diagnosed and treated in the First Hospital of Qinhuangdao from January 2019 to December 2022 were selected as the study group, and another 120 healthy newborns in the same period were selected as the control group, and the differences in serum GH,8-OHdG,and HMGB1 were compared between the study group and the control group, and between different clinical grades and different magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)scores.Spearman's correlation was used to analyse the correlation between clinical grades,MRI scores and serum GH,8-OHdG,HMGB1 levels in the study subjects.Result The serum GH of the study group was lower than that of the control group, and 8-OHdG and HMGB1 were higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant differences(t=22.828,48.563,and 98.440,respectively,P<0.05).There were statistically significant differences in serum GH,8-OHdG,HMGB1 levels and MRI scores among children with different conditions, and further two-by-two comparisons were made, with the children's serum GH and HMGB1 levels ranging from high to low for the mild group, the moderate group, and the severe group, and the 8-OHdG and MRI scores ranging from high to low for the severe, moderate, and the mild group(F=13.055,13.150,12.710,14.205,respectively,P<0.05).There were statistically significant differences in serum GH,8-OHdG,and HMGB1 levels among children with different MRI scores, and further two-by-two comparisons were made, and the children's serum GH and HMGB1 levels were grouped in 0-3,4-7,and 8-10 in descending order, and 8-OHdG was grouped in 8-10,4-7,and 0-3 in descending order(F=15.432,13.674,19.076,respectively,P<0.05).The results of correlation analysis showed that the children's clinical scores and MRI scores were negatively correlated with GH and HMGB1(r=-0.738,-0.666,-0.579,-0.671,respectively,P<0.05)and positively correlated with 8-OHdG was positively correlated(r=0.617,0.690,respectively,P<0.05).Conclusion Serum GH,8-OHdG,and HMGB1 show significant correlation with the clinical classification of neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, which can be used as an important basis for clinical diagnosis.
