Application and verification of a new gait-aided medical diagnosis and treatment system
Objective The feasibility, practicality, and accuracy ofa newly developed gait-assisted medical diagnosis and treatment system thatdoes not rely on wearable devices was verified. Methods Sixty subjects were enrolled and the gait using the same three speeds(fast, constant, and slow)was tested according to the self-control research method. The test data were divided into two groups(the experimental group with the new gait-assisted medical diagnosis and treatment system and the control group with the classic Vicon motion capture system). The differences between the two groups were compared. Results When the subjects were walking at fast and constant speeds, there was no significant difference in step frequency, step time, and stride time between the left and right sides of the experimental group and the same side of the control group(P>0.05).The step length, stride length, step width, and step speed of the experimental group were significantly different from the control group(P<0.05).When the subjects were walking slowly, there was no significant difference in the step frequency, step time, step time, step length, stride length, and step speed between the left and right sides of the experimental group and the control group(P>0.05).There was a significant difference in the step width between the left and right sides of the experimental and control groups(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the maximum flexion angle of the left and right hip joints between the experimental and control groups(P>0.05).The maximum extension angle of the left and right hip joints, the maximum flexion angle of the knee joint, the maximum extension angle of the knee joint, the maximum flexion angle of the ankle joint, and the maximum extension angle of the ankle joint in the experimental group were significantly different from the control group(P<0.05).When the subjects were walking at a constant speed and using the right side as an example, the time and space parameter data(step frequency, step time, stride time, step length, stride length, and step speed)and the maximum flexion and extension angle of the hip, knee, and ankle joints in the experimental group had high similarity with the corresponding data in the control group and the changing trend was basically the same. The two groups of data fluctuated between the low and high values of the reference range for gait data reported in the literature. Conclusion The new gait-assisted medical diagnosis and treatment system does not require equipment to be worn,is simple to operate, economical, and has good compliance. The new gait-assisted medical diagnosis and treatment system is feasible, practical, and relatively accurate in detecting gait and should be considered for gradual application and widespread acceptance in the clinic.
