Effects of an empowerment education model and behavioral coaching on self-confi-dence,success and breast complications of breastfeeding among primiparous women
Objective To analyze the effects of empowerment education model and behavioral guidance on breastfeeding self-confidence,success rate and breast complications of primiparous women. Methods A total of 426 mothers who were examined and delivered in this Hospital from February 2021 to September 2022 were selected as the study subjects, and were divided into 211 cases of the control group(conventional breastfeeding guidance)and 215 cases of the observation group(empowerment education model and behavioral guidance)according to the different intervention methods. The two groups were compared in terms of breastfeeding self-confidence,breastfeeding success rate, feeding compliance behavior and breast complications. Results After guidance, breastfeeding skills and inner activity scores improved in both groups, and the observation group was higher than the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The success rates of exclusive breastfeeding in the observation group at 1 month postpartum,3 months postpartum and 6 months postpartum were 88.84%,87.44% and 83.26%,respectively,which were significantly higher than that of the control group(62.56%,61.37%,53.55% ),and the difference was statisti-cally significant(P<0.05).The feeding compliance behavior adherence rate of the observation group was 97.21%,sig-nificantly higher than the 81.82% of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);the total incidence of breast complications in the observation group was 1.40%,significantly lower than the control group's 5.69%,the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions Through empowerment education model and behavioral guidance,we can improve the self-confidence and success rate of breastfeeding among primiparous women, and reduce the incidence of breast complications.
