Disease Composition and Clinical Characteristics of Geriatric Mental Disorder Inpatients in a Psychiatric Hospital of Fuyang
Objective To analyze the disease composition and clinical characteristics of geriatric psychiat-ric disorder inpatients in the Third People's Hospital of Fuyang from 2019 to 2021.Methods A retrospective survey method was used to review the medical records of patients with mental disorders aged ≥ 60 years who were hospitalized in the Third People's Hospital of Fuyang from January 1,2019 to December 31,2021,and to collect demographic and clinical data such as gender,age,date of discharge,number of days of hospitalization,main diagnosis and disease code of the study subjects.Results(1)Overall 7086 geriatric psychiatric inpatients were diagnosed with the five most common categories of disorders:anxiety disorders 30.0%,depressive disorders 16.7%,organic psychiatric disorders 15.4%,schizophrenia and other primary psychotic disorders 14.4%and bipolar disorder 6.8%.(2)Compared with open wards,patients in closed wards had a higher proportion of males,were younger and had a longer hospitalization period,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The overall hospitalization rate of el-derly patients with mental disorders was higher,with anxiety disorders and depression disorders accounting for a larger proportion.We should pay more attention to the mental health of the elderly population,optimize the discipline con-struction of local geriatric psychiatry,and provide better medical and health resources for the elderly population.
