Relationship between hypertension combined with depression and hormone levels in the elderly patients with hypertension
Objective To explore the relationship between depression and hormone levels in elderly patients with hypertension. Methods Ninety-two elderly hypertensive patients who underwent depression screening from August 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the study subjects, and depression screening were conducted. They were set as the depression group and the control group based on screening results. The general information,Thyroid hormones level, angiotensin and aldosterone levels of the two groups were compared. The correlation between Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD-17)and Thyroid hormones level in depression group were analyzed. Results 92 elderly hyper-tensive patients with depression in 26 cases. There was a statistically significant difference between the depression group and the control group in terms of disease course, blood pressure control effect, living alone, and complications related to hypertension(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in gender, place of residence, and years of education between the two groups(P>0.05).The level of Thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH),angiotensin Ⅰ(AngⅠ),angiotensin Ⅱ(Ang Ⅱ),and aldosterone in the depression group was significantly higher than that in the control group, and the levels of Triiodothyronine(T3)and Thyroxine(T4)were significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The HAMD-17 score in the depression group was positively correlated with TSH,Ang,and Ang Ⅱlevels, and negatively correlated with T3、T4 levels(P<0.05).There was no significant correlation with aldosterone level(P>0.05).Conclusion The incidence of depression in elderly patients with hypertension is higher, and de-pression is associated with low thyroid hormone levels,Ang Ⅰ and Ang Ⅱ levels.
