Efficacy of Escitalopram versus paroxetine in the treatment of depression in elderly patients with chronic heart failure
Objective To analyze the effect of escitalopram and paroxetine in the treatment of depression after chronic heart failure in elderly patients. Methods From October 2020 to October 2022,102 elderly patients with chronic heart failure and depression in our hospital were selected for a randomized double-blind controlled trial, and grouped by random number table method. Both groups were given conventional treatment, the control group was given paroxetine on this basis, and the experimental group was given escitalopram.Negative emotions, monoamine neu-rotransmitter levels, quality of life and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results After treat-ment,the scores of self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),dopamine(DA)and norepinephrine(NE)in experimental group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the social, environmental, physiological and psychological scores of the experimental group were higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was compared between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Escitalopram and paroxetine have high safety in the treatment of chronic heart failure in elderly patients, but Escitalopram can more effectively reduce negative emotions, improve the level of monoamine neurotransmitter and quality of life.
