Effects of childhood trauma,social support,and hopelessness on suicide risk in adults with depression
Objective Exploring the effects of childhood trauma,social support,despair,and degree of de-pression on suicide in adult patients with depressive disorder.Methods A total of 93 hospitalized patients at Shenzhen Mental Health Center from April 2023 to August 2023 were included in the study,who met the ICD-10 diagnostic cri-teria for depression.They were evaluated using the Hamilton Depression Scale、Childhood Trauma Questionnaire、So-cial Support rating scale、Beck hopelessness scale、Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview and Suicide Behav-ior Questionnaire Revised.Results The levels of despair,suicide,and depression in adult patients with depressive disorders were positively correlated(P<0.01),childhood trauma was positively correlated with suicide risk and despair(P<0.01),and social support was negatively correlated with childhood trauma and despair(P<0.01).Childhood trauma played a mediating role in social support and despair,while depression played a mediating role in despair and suicide,Despair plays a mediating role in childhood trauma and suicide.Conclusion Despair and depression levels both increase the risk of suicide,Despair is related to childhood trauma and poor social support,and the impact of ex-periencing childhood trauma on suicide is mediated by increasing the sense of despair.
