Analysis of the Efficacy of EEG Bionic Electrical Stimulation-Assisted Treatment of Geriatric Depression
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of EEG bionic electrical stimulation in the adjunctive treatment of geriatric depression. Methods A total of 140 cases of elderly patients with depression from February 2020 to June 2022 were included and randomly divided into 2 groups by numerical table method. The control group was given oral sertraline tablets, and the observation group was given EEG bionic electrical stimulation adjuvant therapy on the basis of oral sertraline tablets.Anxiety and depressive symptoms as well as serum marker levels were compared before and after the intervention. Results The hamilton anxiety scale、hamilton depressed scale-17 of both groups decreased significantly compared with the pre-treatment scores, and both scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The serum levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT),brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)increased significantly, and the levels of the two markers of the observation group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The levels of serum 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)and brain-derived neurotrophic fac-tor(BDNF)increased significantly in both groups, and the levels of these two markers were higher in the observation group than in the control group after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion EEG bionic electrical stimulation-assisted treatment of geriatric depression can further reduce anxiety and depression and improve levels of depression-related se-rum markers.
