Effect of sertraline in refractory epilepsy patients with depression and its effect on neurotransmitter levels
Objective To analyze the effect of Sertraline in refractory epilepsy children with depression.Meth-ods A total of 106 children with intractable epilepsy complicated with depression admitted to our hospital from Janu-ary 2021 to December 2022 were selected as research objects and grouped by random number table method.53 cases in the control group received conventional treatment, and 53 cases in the observation group were treated with sertra-line.After 3 months of treatment, the seizures, adverse mood, neurotransmitter levels and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results Before and after treatment, the frequency and duration of attacks were not different between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the scores of SCAREO and DSRSC in the observa-tion group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA),dopamine(DA)and 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)in observation group were higher than those in control group(P<0.05).The incidence of adverse reactions was not different between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Sertraline can control seizures in children with refractory epilepsy complicated with depression, improve their adverse mood, improve their neurotransmitter levels with high safety.
