The effect of mental health education training for primary and secondary teachers in the background of medical education synergy
Objective To assess the effectiveness of a collaborative medical-educational training program on mental health education for primary and secondary school teachers.Methods The 62 teachers in the training were divided into four sessions according to the time of participation,and the content of each session was consistent.In ac-cordance with the multi-group pre-and post-test experimental design,the teachers were administered the Face Scale,Emotion Thermometer,Short Index of Job Satisfaction,Job Stress Scale,Chinese Short Version of Depression Anxi-ety and Stress Scale,and Mental Health Knowledge Questionnaire,and the results of the tests were subjected to the paired-samples t-test and repeated-measures analysis of variance(ANOVA).Results The paired-samples t-test showed that,compared with the pre-training period,all the trainees showed an increase in life satisfaction,a de-crease in the level of depression and anxiety stress,and an increase in the level of mental hygiene knowledge(t-values of 2.791,-2.68,4.751,P<0.05,respectively)after the training.The results of repeated measures ANOVA showed that life satisfaction(F=4.732,P=0.037)and mental health knowledge(F=9.380,P=0.005)were significantly higher in trained teachers than in untrained teachers.Conclusion The training program is effective and can improve the professionalism of the participating psychological teachers.
