Current status of cancer-caused fatigue in cervical cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and its re-lationship with negative emotions
Objective To explore the current status of cancer-caused fatigue in cervical cancer patients under-going chemotherapy and the relationship with negative emotions. Methods Eighty-seven cervical cancer chemotherapy patients were investigated in this study from February 2021 to October 2022,and all patients were screened with the Cancer Fatigue Scale(CFS).All patients were screened with the Cancer Fatigue Scale(CFS)and were divided into a fatigue group and a no fatigue group based on the screening results. The general information as well as anxiety and de-pression self-rating scales(SAS,SDS)were compared between the two groups. The correlation between CFS scores and negative mood scores was also analyzed. Results Cancer-caused fatigue was screened in 62 of 87 cervical cancer chemotherapy patients, with a CFS score of(40.12±6.80).Among the types of fatigue, emotional mean score was the highest, followed by somatic and cognitive fatigue. The differences in age, chemotherapy course, tumor stage and years of education between the fatigue group and the no fatigue group were statistically significant(P<0.05).The dif-ferences in place of residence between the two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).SAS score and SDS score were significantly higher in the fatigue group than in the no fatigue group, and the detection rates of anxiety and depression were higher than those in the no fatigue group(P<0.05).The somatic, emotional and cognitive fatigue scores as well as the total CFS score of patients in the fatigue group had a positive correlation with the SAS score and SDS score(P<0.05).Conclusion Patients undergoing chemotherapy for cervical cancer commonly have moderate or above cancer-caused fatigue, and cancer-caused fatigue is significantly correlated with anxiety and depression.
