Current status of disease uncertainty and its relationship with negative emotions on patients in emergency room
Objective To explore the current state of disease uncertainty and its relationship with negative emo-tions in emergency medical observation patients. Methods Eighty emergency internal medicine observation patients from March 2020 to January 2023 were selected as the study subjects. The Disease Uncertainty Scale(MUIS)and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale(HAD)were assessed. The general information such as patient age and gender were investigated,The differences in MUIS scores among different patients were analyzed. The current state of disease uncertainty and its correlation with negative emotions and general data were analyzed using the multiple stepwise regres-sion.Results The MUIS score of 80 emergency internal medicine observation patients was(74.81±8.66),including uncertainty score(46.91±4.84),complexity score(27.90±3.47),HAD depression score(14.37±3.42),and anx-iety score(17.82±3.19).There is a positive correlation between MUIS score and HAD depression and anxiety scores(P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in MUIS scores among patients of different conscious medical attitude, ages, educational levels, perceived severity of the condition, and admission time(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in MUIS scores among patients of different genders and places of residence(P>0.05).Depression,anxiety score, age, education level, admission time, and conscious medical attitude are related factors for disease uncertainty in the HAD scale. Conclusion The uncertainty of disease in emergency medical observation patients is at a moderate level and is correlated with anxiety, depression, age, education level, and other factors.
