The status of mental symptoms in patients with acute cerebral infarction
Objective To analyze the status of early onset of mental symptoms in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Methods Eighty patients with acute cerebral infarction from August 2021 to November 2022 were selected as the study subjects. The third edition of the Chinese Diagnostic Classification of Mental Disorders was used to assess mental symptoms within two weeks. They were divided into mental symptom group and no mental symptom group ac-cording to the evaluation results. The age, sex, infarction location and other medical records of the two groups of pa-tients were collected. The influencing factors of early onset of mental symptoms were investigated using the single factor and multiple factor analysis. Results Twenty-one patients developed early mental symptoms, including 5 cases of hallucination and delusion,4 cases of mania,6 cases of delirium, and 6 cases of depression or anxiety in 80 patients with acute cerebral infarction. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in age,sex,in-farction site and hypoxemia(P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in education level, neurological deficit score(NHISS)and chronic disease(P>0.05).Multivariate analysis showed that temporal lobe infarction, frontal lobe infarction,female,age>75 years old,and hypoxemia were the influencing factors of early on-set of mental symptoms in patients with acute cerebral infarction(P<0.05).Conclusion Patients with acute cerebral infarction may have mental symptoms in the early stage, such as delirium, depression or anxiety, while temporal lobe and frontal lobe infarction and old age may increase the risk of mental symptoms.
